Why can't chai tapri chatter be coded? Why can't city rhythms become algorithms? Can tech be more accessible? How to decolonise digital art? What are the limits of interactive performances? Can code help us learn raag? Watch and listen to interwoven cityscapes through our performances - layered and alive. We have built these improvisational sets in open-source creative coding environments. This is live coding- raw, collaborative, and rooted in local context. Enjoy, and don't let the glitch bugs bite!
Opening Up the Process Live-coding is a performance practice that breaks down the barrier between audience and performer. By showcasing code overlaid on top of outputs—visuals pulsing, sounds evolving, algorithms dancing in real-time—the creative process becomes transparent. This is music and art made live, where mistakes are accepted, playfulness is encouraged, and curiosity is the driving force. Our performances are built in open-source creative coding environments, making technology accessible and collaborative. With laptops in hand, projectors pointing in unexpected directions, and speakers pulsing to urban rhythms, we spin spontaneous experiences that blur the lines between tech, creativity, and everyday life.
Women Wilding Code Women Wilding Code is our live-coding performance experiment where coding is approached as a wilding practice. We bring excitement for camaraderie and community as methods for creating and performing with technology, planting playful ideas of code and sisterhood. This is code as liberation—raw, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that technology can be a space for connection and joy. Through these performances, we explore how to decolonize digital art, make tech more accessible, and create interactive experiences that center community and experimentation.
code.drift Collective code.drift collective is an amorphous bunch of curious wanderers who drift through cities, weaving the chaotic, vibrant, and multifaceted essence of city life into immersive audio-visual cityscapes using real-time code, wit, and play. Our performances are playgrounds where sounds meet pixels and city streets and stories come alive. Each show is a spontaneous mashup of real-time code, sound, and visuals—with no rules and plenty of surprises. It’s part performance, part live-coding playground, where we take audiences on journeys through cityscapes, mixing urban sounds, glitchy visuals, and chaotic city stories on the fly. With projectors beaming onto unexpected surfaces and beats bouncing through the space, each performance is a high-energy experiment where anything can happen, and no two nights are the same.
A Collaborative Practice These performances are made possible through collaboration with an incredible community of artists, musicians, coders, and dreamers. The collective includes @nanditi.k, @computational_mama, @slackertendency, @sameeramudgal, @m.angesh, @abhishekkapahi, @decoydhruv, @divyagoswami._, and @shalin979. Together, we explore what happens when chai tapri chatter becomes code, when city rhythms become algorithms, and when raag meets real-time synthesis. This is live coding—layered, alive, and ready to surprise. Enjoy, and don’t let the glitch bugs bite!
